Invest now for future success

Most people can’t wait for the Summer, but I actually love the cooler months.

I love being outside on those crisp days, when the air is cool, and the sun shines.

This week in particular, after the hustle and bustle of the holidays, I’ve been enjoying wandering in the garden; a hot cup of coffee in hand, reflecting on the year gone by, and planning for the approaching spring.

It’s been nearly six months since we moved into our new house.
One of the first things we did was prune and plant the garden. Getting everything established was hard work at the start and a big investment in time, but I am excited to see how it will flourish and bloom as the weather starts to warm up.

Helping your brand evolve and grow

We have also spent time this year on pruning and planting at LegalRev; you may have noticed that LegalRev has updated its branding and website, as well as some fresh regular content, guides, and resources to help our clients.

Running a business is like tending a garden — at times, you need to invest in planting, preparing, and nourishing. Some parts of the garden occasionally need ‘weeding’ or even removal, but it is a continual process. Equally, knowing how much time to spend on gardening is an important question to consider.

How much should a law firm spend on digital marketing?

‘I get asked a lot by clients – how much should I spend on my marketing to be effective?’

General guidance on marketing investment is 8-10% (of your gross revenue) for maintenance, and up to 20% for growth. But for small businesses, the U.S. Small Business Administration recommends spending 7%-8% of your firm’s gross revenue on marketing. I’d like to think of it like 8%(ish) to keep the garden neat and weeded, and more than that if you want to fertilize your garden for serious growth and yield.

And just like your garden, you can invest less time and effort, and some parts of the garden will still be ok. But if you don’t stay on top of the weeds, and don’t prune the odd branch, all your efforts can be undone, and that garden can get pretty overgrown.

The great thing is, if you want to focus on other things, you can always hire a gardener to help you out.

Maintaining your digital marketing growth

I see what we do at LegalRev like being the gardening squad for your online presence. We take care of the weeding, the pruning, and the planting, so hopefully you can focus on other things, and see the business bloom.

Happy New Year to you all.
